Hatzalah is an organization with major expenses. It costs Hatzalah significant sums to train volunteers as certified EMTs and for their continuing education. Additional costs include ambulance maintenance, fuel and insurance, the purchase of drugs, medical and communication equipment, and Riverdales share of the Hatzalah radio dispatch system. Furthermore, in the post 9/11 era, Hatzalahs budget has grown significantly due to the purchase of protective equipment and continual preparedness training for potential terrorist and/or mass casualty incidents.
Unlike New York City EMS, Riverdale Hatzalah provides life saving services vital to our community without charging for its services. Expert emergency medical care is provided with compassion, professionalism and menschlichkeit, at no cost to the patient. Hatzalah is supported solely by contributions from the local Jewish community.
It is the communitys collective responsibility to provide Hatzalah with the funds required to continue its life saving work. It is our hope that through your generous support, Hatzalah will continue to provide our community with its high level of emergency medical service.
Riverdale Hatzalah is a qualified organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code ( click for IRS determination letter ). All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law.
Remember, good emergency medical care is costly, until you need it. Then it becomes priceless.
